HIS DIVINE GRACE, A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, affectionately known to his followers as Srila Prabhupada, left India in 1965 at age 69 and headed for America to fulfill his spiritual master's request to teach the science of Krishna Consciousness throughout the English-speaking world.

In twelve years, he published more than seventy books on India's spiritual legacy - most notably Bhagavad-gita and  Srimad-Bhagavatam.  All the while, traveling almost nonstop, Srila Prabhupada created the International Society for Krishna Consciousness, ISKCON, a worldwide confederation of ashrams, schools, temples, and farm communities.  He passed away in 1977.  His disciples are continuing to expand the worldwide movement he started.
