The
temple has an academic outreach team dedicated to making
presentations about the Hare Krishna Movement and its Vaisnava
roots. The team visits schools and colleges within a one-hour
driving radius of the temple. Schools visited include: UCLA, USC,
Cal State, Chaminade High, Peninsula High, etc. Team members speak
on the philosophical and sociological aspects of the Movement.
Presentations are highly interactive and typically include a
demonstration of chanting, philosophy overview and samples of Krishna
food. Lots of time is left for the students to ask questions. At the
teacher's request introductory literature can be provided.
In addition to visiting schools and colleges, the team also hosts
classes at the temple. Tours of the temple compound are
arranged that include visits to the Bhagavad-Gita museum and lunch
if desired. For younger children we can arrange art projects and
games.
